Members of the Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity have been volunteering at the Riverside Free Clinic for 11 years and is a prime example of what students can do to give back to the community while honing their skills as future healthcare practitioners. The Riverside Free Clinic was originally created in 2004 by physicians who wanted to provide free medical services to the underserved public of Riverside, California. The free clinic soon gathered the attention of student volunteers of UCR, Loma Linda University Medical School, and WesternU. The clinic runs under an annual budget of $15,000-$20,000 from donations and grants of local and national health foundations. Though the clinic does not require a lot of money to operate, the services provided by the many student and healthcare professional volunteers are invaluable to the patients.
