While all students are expected to attend Commencement, occasionally a few students expect to miss Commencement because they are "expecting". Dean Daniel Robinson administered the "Oath of the Pharmacist" to Aneeka Irshad, PharmD 2016 and Sadaf Askarinam, PharmD 2016 in his office on May 5, 2016, just in case.
Oath of the Pharmacist"I promise to devote myself to a lifetime of service to others through the profession of pharmacy. In fulfilling this vow:
Nizat Raziyan, Pharm D 2002 WesternU alumna spent time with the first year students discussing her passion for pediatric pharmacy practice on May 4, 2016. Dr. Raziyan emphasized that to work in a pediatric setting, pharmacists require excellent communication skills, an eye for detail and should have firm understanding of neurological, cardiovascular, body composition, respiratory, GI, endocrine, and renal system as this role requires an understanding of medication effects on the human body across a range of ages from birth and in neonatal intensive care units, to adolescence and the transition to adult medicine.
Dr. Raziyan works for Shriners Hospitals for children which is a network of 22 non-profit medical facilities across North America and its mission is to provide best care for children in the specialty areas of orthopedics, burn care, spinal cord injury, and cleft lip and palate.
