The mission of IPSA is “Make the world smaller, together.” The goals of IPSA are to support all IPBP students throughout their education period and beyond, to provide opportunities for IPBP students to get involved, to welcome and host visitors from across the globe and to maximize connections among current IPBP students, alumni, and traditional students.
Board elections were held in December 2018. The first board members of IPSA are: Vineet Tung (Internal President), Ibrahim Younis (External President), and Ya-Wei Chung (Historian). Dr. David Sanchez is the faculty advisor for IPSA.
All IPBP students were invited to participate in a logo-designing competition for IPSA. We received several creative logo submissions, and conducted a poll amongst members to select the winning logo. Reem Aljanabi, PharmD 2021 candidate was the winner of the competition. The logo designed by her truly reflects IPSA’s mission.
The first event organized by IPSA was a rotation talk with IPBP P4 students, in which P2 and P3 IPBP students got a chance to interact with their upperclassmen and learn about rotations. The event was held on January 16 2019, and was attended by approximately 25 students. It was a very enriching experience, as students got to learn about numerous rotation sites, and ask any questions that they had in mind. It was also a great way to kick off the new year and bring IPSA members together.
IPSA collaborated with APhA-ASP/CPhA on February 21, 2019 to host an IPBP-AGU (Aichi Gakuin University) social with traditional P2 students, IPBP P2 students, and Aichi Gakuin Exchange Students who are visiting WesternU from Japan. This was a wonderful opportunity to make the Japanese exchange students feel welcome at WesternU, and also to fulfill our mission of encouraging interaction and an exchange of ideas between IPBP students and traditional students. All the students bonded over an hour of lunch, games, and wonderful conversation!
