The applications of ResearchKit go far beyond disease state research, where it can be applied in the field of pharmacy. Research on symptom appearances and medication adherence in relations to the dose of medication provided can be provided in real time. With this information, researchers can better understand what doses are therapeutic and hazardous as well as the pattern of medication adherence patients might have in relations to symptoms. As future pharmacists, we should be knowledgeable of the apps available out there. We should know what are good and bad apps and make recommendations based on them to certain patients in the their current therapy. As experts in pharmacy, we should take opportunities to contribute to the development of apps when presented with them. Our iPhones are already capable of measuring and collecting information with its hardware, utilizing research Apps will be a good step in the right direction to understanding diseases and how to better treat these types of patients.
